About Newark Trusted Water Heater

What the service does
You fill in one short form: your name, a phone number, your town and what the heater is doing. That request goes to one local company that works where you live, and that company gets in touch with you about the job and the price. You decide whether to go ahead once you have their price.
It costs you nothing to ask. Companies that receive requests through this site may pay for them, and that is how the site is paid for.
We are not the installer
Newark Trusted Water Heater does not install, replace or repair water heaters, and it holds no plumbing licence. The company you hire does the work, and the licence that work needs is theirs.
That matters in New Jersey because a water heater is plumbing. The state's construction rules say plumbing work "shall not be undertaken except by persons licensed to perform such work pursuant to law, except in the case of a single-family homeowner on his or her own dwelling" (N.J.A.C. 5:23-2.15(b)2i). The permit guide covers what that means for a replacement, including the permit and the inspection.
It is also why this site prints no licence number and no street address. New Jersey's rule for plumbing advertisements, N.J.A.C. 13:32-3.1(c), asks for a licensed master plumber's name, a New Jersey business address and the licence number. This site is not a plumber advertising its own work, so it has none of the three to print, and it says what it is instead.
How to check the company that quotes
Ask for the master plumber's licence number and look it up. The State Board of Examiners of Master Plumbers has a public licence verification page where anyone can do that.
A home improvement registration number is not the check for this job. The Contractors' Registration Act definition "does not apply to any work required to be performed by a licensed master plumber" (N.J.A.C. 13:45A-17.2).
Then ask who files the permit. A replacement goes through your town's construction office, and in Newark that is the Office of Uniform Construction Code. The cost guide has the questions worth asking before you compare two prices.
Why the pages explain the rules
Most of this site is written for the homeowner who has not called anyone yet. Where a figure could change, such as a rebate or a town fee, the page says who published it.
